The renovation project deals with expansion of space in accordance to the expansion of the family. The design is a separate additional living quarter, with an extension of a wooden deck encircling the volumes to create a connection between the existing and new buildings.  Clerestory windows are implemented along the perimeter of the building, with the purpose to admit natural light into the space. 

 

Another emphasis is the design of the courtyard, seen as the main point of interaction within the family as well as any gatherings. Gravel is poured onto the courtyard to highlight the existing tree.
