At the 30th Busan International Film Festival in 2025, Alternative Universe Co., Ltd. was honored to present the Face of the Future Award to Pangku (On Your Lap), the feature directorial debut of Indonesian filmmaker Reza Rahadian.

Through Pangku, Reza Rahadian brings audiences into the life of a mother navigating hardship, dignity, love, and survival. Told with sensitivity and a distinctly poetic cinematic language, the film reminds us that meaningful cinema does not always need to speak loudly. Sometimes, its greatest strength comes from observing ordinary lives with honesty and allowing their emotions to remain with us long after the screen fades to black.

Alternative Universe established the Face of the Future Award with the intention of supporting filmmakers who continue to expand the possibilities of Asian cinema. The award carries a prize of KRW 10,000,000, but beyond the prize itself, we hope it represents encouragement — a message to filmmakers that their perspectives matter, their stories deserve to travel, and their journeys should continue.

We warmly congratulate Reza Rahadian and the entire Pangku team on this achievement.

Because in the Alternative Universe, we support the future of cinema by believing in the people who are brave enough to imagine it.
